A Digital Escape Room

It's Wednesday evening. Book club night at Mottram Community Centre.

You arrived expecting a quiet evening of literature and weak tea. But something is wrong tonight. The lights flicker. The doors won't open.

Hidden somewhere in this building is the key to your escape — but the answers won't come easy.

Three puzzles. One way out. The clock is ticking.
⚠ Before You Begin
Somewhere in this community centre, a demon has been summoned. It feeds on confusion and fear.

Stay sharp. Solve the puzzles. Escape before it finds you.

Not everyone who enters this building makes it out.

Puzzle One of Three

The Latin Inscription

The hall is pitch black. Your torch cuts a thin beam through the dark.

In the centre of the room — a circle of chairs. On the floor, a tattered old book. A piece of parchment has fallen from its pages.

The writing is ancient. Latin. You squint to make it out.
The Parchment
The inscription reads:

"Lege et libera. Libera et lege."

Below it, scrawled in darker ink:

"What must you do to be free?"

Translate the Latin. The answer is a single word.

Puzzle Two of Three

The Noticeboard

One door opens. You make it to the corridor.

The noticeboard is covered in flyers — karate, pilates, coffee mornings. But one has been defaced. Someone has scratched a message across it.

The growl begins somewhere beneath you.
The Defaced Flyer
"I was found in a charity shop for pennies.
My author wrote Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.
I am unfinished. Dark. Philosophical.
I am set in medieval Austria.
I feature a supernatural youth named after the Devil himself.
What is my name?"

The Final Door

You reach the exit. One final lock.

On the door, burned into the wood:

"Only you can save yourselves. Figure it out."

Scratched beneath — a riddle. Solve it. The door opens.
The Riddle on the Door
"I meet every Wednesday at seven.
I sit in a circle but have no shape.
I discuss the dead but have no grave.
I gather strangers but call them friends.
I am found in community centres, churches and front rooms.
I am named after what I do.

What am I?"

Behind you, the growl reaches its peak.

You Escaped.

But not everyone does.

The front door swings open. Cold night air floods in.

You step out onto the street. Behind you, the community centre falls silent.

The circle of chairs sits empty in the dark.
Waiting for next Wednesday.
